This a great version but my only regret is that it's been abridged and consequently (for me) loses a little of the layering and complexity of the full text. I just loved this book! The basic story is so beautifully told - Roddy Doyle knows exactly where he's coming from and puts over the Rabbitte family's way of life so well. All you need in a social drama is there - humour, sadness and reality are all expertly drawn in just the right places.
